Tech Team Report for month of
April
The following points are for reading and
discussing at the council meeting in May 2002
Please don't clog the mailing list with requests just mark them and ask me
when all council can hear answer without filling a mailing program
What we have done this month:
Servers
- Changed ip addy on se01.scoutlink.net
- nl01.scoutlink.net crashed and we could not
recover services for about 45mins but back up eventually.
- Trying to contact server admin for
no01.scoutlink.net to sort out why server is down.
Correspondence
- Sent our commands popups to some channel ops
to use and practice with.
- E-mail from Bossman withdrawing his offer of a
UK server.
- Request for instruction on digest form for
#jambo list.
- Request from no-use re users with
@scoutlink.net mail addies. List is being sent to all CC's for them to look
over and re-approve.
- Requested that all users re-register their
nicks with Nickserv due to database failure.
- E-mail from Teddy advising se03.scoutlink.net
downtime to add more RAM.
- Sent out server requirements to Mr_Y
- Sent out server requirements to Maddog
- Forwarded some mail on to webteam for
actioning that was sent to techteam.
- Lots of E-mail re network bot policy including
flames and misunderstandings.
- Received information for a new server in
Sweden from Mr_Y and it will be se02.scoutlink.net
- Received mail from a leader in the US re
getting his scouts online. Answered the technical bits but referred him to
Nerilka for US approach.
- Received e-mail from Space_nl that Magnus is
being worked on currently. Magnus is the other approved bot.
- forwarded reports from #youth and #irc_help
Tweaking and adjusting
- When trying to restart the services from the
ircd rather than the root. We lost Nickserv database. This as per mail was due
to changes that took place on the physical machine that nl01.scoutlink.net is
on. Upgrades and such
- Dropped some nicks that ppl had taken over
after Nickserv database loss.
- Helped Bip and Jacka get Bot onto
au04.scoutlink.net. She is now running heaps faster and more reliably.
- Adjusted eirc and apirc connections again.
- Completed checks on mainframe to recommend
level 5 ops to council.
-
Tech Team specific
- Looked into reasons for akick and chanbans to
both occur when akick is done. Outcome these cannot be separated as chanban is
necessary to stop autorejoins.
- Organising list of JOTI techies to send to
JOTI team
- Removed Eagle from US from #jambo mailing list
due to his use of offensive language.
Ops and Olines and mailing lists
- Added two olines and removed one oline for
Nerilka.
- Added @scoutlink.net addy for ananas - #scan
op.
