Tech Team Report for month of
November
The following points are for reading and
discussing at the council meeting in December 2002
Please don't clog the mailing list with requests just mark them and ask me
when all council can hear answer without filling a mailing program.
I have changed the format somewhat this month
just for a change. November has been a quiet month with only a few major things
occurring with very limited disruption to the network. The next ircd upgrade is
planned within the next month so stay tuned for info through the mailing lists
when we have a date for this.
What we have done this month:
- removed all joti temp servers or converted
them to full time servers
- removed bot accounts from nl02
- sent mail out thanking all temp server admins
for their donated servers during JOTI
- had enquiries from a technically minded person
re joining TT - suggested he talk to coders at the moment
- sent stats out to #india leader and JOTI co-ords
outside scoutlink
- discussed CGI-chat for next JOTI
- Farewelled Electro_geek and welcomed Jacka to
the team
- Opened and closed #jambo a couple of times
- Changed all passwords on the servers
- Continued development on ircchan/Statserv
- Helped some users set up their mIRC
- Closed and deregistered some channels left
after JOTI
- Tested and ran backup services on au04 for
over a week while dk03 was worked on
- removed de01.scoutlink.net
- Liaised with CC over server admin and their
server
- Received and forwarded all website
registrations to appropriate CC's
- Overcame critical DNS problem that threatened
to close Scoutlink down
- Upgraded dk03 with more Hard drive space
- Changed passwords on servers again due to
compromised server
- worked with us01.scoutlink.net server admin to
correct connection problem
- Found bug in ops setting large topics
- changed redirection mail addresses for several
ops
- Helped #scandinavian team with webserver for
irc-scand
- added oline for Bear and Roger_uk new ircops
for UK
- Helped server admin reconfigure to avoid ICMP
attack
- Working with server admin to minimise explicit
spam coming through some addresses
- Helped co-ordinate the short notice visit by
Philipines scouts chatting on our network
- Set up address for AU/NZ voting
- Gave Bignick small ops course to bring him up
to speed

- Voting script for #deutsch
- next upgrade of services
- more work done on techies.scoutlink.net site
for our document storage and approved bot list
- Statserv into final phases of implementing on
dk03.scoutlink.net. Example
test page still available to see at http://hathi.scouting.dk/sl-irc/
- Currently working on script and webpage that
allows for live listing of servers and user connection from same - this is
still work in progress
- Compiling document store -
Server Admins list, Server lists, Channel lists etc
- Tech team page - techies.scoutlink.net - to
store documents etc that tt use all the time...also tt page for scoutlink.net
- techteam.scoutlink.net - processes requires some tools being translated into
english
- Review of all op olines to ensure correct
hostmasks
- theteam@scoutlink.net mailing list review - to
ensure all ops are on it that should be
- Full chanop, globalop, IRCop lists to update
webpages and circulate to ensure ops are on theteam mailing list.
- Working towards transferring ops courses to
Bip and his #irc_help team
- Still awaiting some translations of IRCops
course notes
- being available for questions on commands and
practice
